Sarah wanted to spend her birthday exploring the wine villages of the Alsace. Here we are in the medieval walled village of Riquewihr, France, where we sampled the local Munster cheese.
-
We were on the search for a small cheese dairy. Though it turned out to be defunct, we did see the milk truck on its route, Greek islands style.
-
In our search for traditional cheesemakers, we came upon this ancient bread oven in a village on Paros.

A visit to a local creamery on Paros. Here cheeses are being rinsed before going into the brine vat.

Milking goats in a small Greek village. The does have "bonnets" over their udders to prevent the young ones from suckling.
-
The main square in the tiny town of Lefkas, on Paros. The shop belongs to a weaver, whom I have known for many years, and who is carrying on the tradition of hand weaving. From this village, a Byzantine road made of marble paving stones leads across the hills to the sea.
-
The fishing village of Naoussa, on the Greek Island of Paros, where I began working on 200 Easy Home Made Cheese Recipes.
